Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction (R-W-C) Policy
Madrasa: Journal of Islamic Educational Management adheres to ethical publishing practices and the highest standards of integrity in scholarly communication. This Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction (R-W-C) Policy is based on COPE Retraction Guidelines and aims to ensure the reliability of the published literature while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Retraction Policy
Retraction serves as a mechanism to correct the literature and alert readers to articles with severely flawed or erroneous content, ensuring the integrity of scholarly communication. Retractions may occur due to honest mistakes, errors, or misconduct such as plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical violations. The primary objective of retraction is to correct the scientific record, not to penalize authors.
The editor may consider retracting an article under the following circumstances:
- Evidence of significant errors in research, such as experimental manipulation, incorrect calculations, or invalid data.
- Findings have been published elsewhere without proper notification or permission.
- Violation of ethical research standards, including human or animal ethics.
- Manipulation of the peer-review process.
- Unauthorized use of data, resulting in copyright infringement or other legal violations.
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest by the author(s) that compromise the integrity of the research.
Withdrawal Policy
Manuscripts may be withdrawn under limited circumstances as outlined below:
-
Prior to the Peer-Review Process:
- Authors may request withdrawal before the manuscript enters peer review. The editor will assess the request and decide whether withdrawal is appropriate.
-
During the Peer-Review Process:
- If authors wish to withdraw a manuscript during peer review, they must submit a formal withdrawal letter signed by all authors, explaining the ethical reasons for the request.
-
Following Publication:
- Manuscripts cannot be withdrawn after publication under any circumstances. Any issues post-publication will be handled under the Retraction Policy or Correction Policy as appropriate.
The editorial board takes the peer-review process seriously and encourages authors to familiarize themselves with all journal policies before submission. Authors are advised to anticipate potential conflicts and ensure their manuscripts comply with journal guidelines.
Correction Policy
Corrections are issued to maintain the accuracy of the published record and address significant errors in published articles. Corrections are categorized as follows:
-
Publisher Correction (Erratum):
- Issued to address errors made by the journal staff, such as production errors that impact the article’s integrity or reputation.
-
Author Correction (Corrigendum):
- Issued to address significant errors made by the authors that compromise the accuracy of the research or its interpretation.
-
Addendum:
- Issued as a supplement to clarify inconsistencies, expand the scope of the article, or update key information in the original publication.
The decision to issue a correction is made by the Editor-in-Chief, often with input from reviewers or editorial board members. The editorial office will contact the authors for clarification, but the final decision rests with the editors.
