Peer Review Process

Madrasa: Journal of Islamic Educational Management upholds a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, validity, and relevance of its published research. This process employs a double-blind peer review system, maintaining anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Experts in the field assess the submissions based on their scholarly significance, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

1. Preliminary Assessment

The editorial team conducts an initial screening of submitted manuscripts to ensure alignment with the journal's focus and compliance with publication standards. Manuscripts with more than 20% similarity to existing works or that fail to meet basic criteria are immediately rejected. The team also checks adherence to the journal's formatting and citation guidelines. Manuscripts that do not conform to these standards are returned to the authors for correction and resubmission. Only manuscripts meeting the journal's preliminary criteria proceed to the peer review stage.

2. Selection of Reviewers

The editorial board assigns at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject matter of the manuscript. Reviewers and authors remain unaware of each other’s identities to ensure an unbiased evaluation. The editorial board ensures that reviewers are from different institutions than the authors, taking into account their expertise and avoiding any conflicts of interest. Reviewer invitations are typically finalized within four weeks of submission.

3. Evaluation Process

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its scholarly rigor, originality, validity, and relevance to the field of Islamic educational management. The review process usually takes two weeks, during which reviewers provide detailed feedback to authors, suggesting acceptance, revisions, or rejection.

4. Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial team, makes the final decision to accept, reject, or request revisions based on the reviewers’ feedback and the manuscript's compliance with publication standards. In cases where reviewer opinions differ significantly, a third reviewer may be consulted. Authors are notified of the editorial decision and provided with anonymous reviewer comments. The journal aims to communicate the first decision within one month and publish accepted manuscripts within 4 to 8 weeks of final acceptance.

5. Revision Stage

For manuscripts requiring revisions, authors must incorporate the suggested changes and submit a revised version within the specified timeframe:

  • Two weeks for minor revisions.
  • Four weeks for major revisions.

Authors must highlight all changes in the revised manuscript and provide a response letter addressing reviewer feedback. Manuscripts requiring major revisions may be sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation to ensure the revisions meet the required standards.

6. Final Steps to Publication

Once a manuscript is accepted, authors must submit the final version for copyediting and formatting before publication. The journal ensures that all accepted manuscripts meet its professional and academic standards for publication.

Through this comprehensive peer review process, Madrasa: Journal of Islamic Educational Management guarantees the publication of high-quality, original, and impactful research in the field of Islamic educational management.
