Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Madrasa: Journal of Islamic Educational Management welcomes authors to submit high-quality original manuscripts aligned with the journal’s scope and aims. These guidelines outline how to prepare a manuscript for submission, including the structure, format, and referencing style. 


Article Types

Original Research Article

An original research article presents comprehensive findings from cutting-edge research within the field of Islamic educational management or related areas. Submissions should be written in clear, well-organized formats adhering to academic standards.

Word Limit: Up to 4000 words (excluding the abstract, tables, figures, and references).
Authors’ Names and Institutions: Provide authors' full names, affiliations, institutional addresses, and email addresses without academic or job titles.


Manuscript Structure

1. Title

  • The title must be concise, informative, and relevant to the subject of the manuscript.
  • Titles should not exceed 20 words and must avoid uncommon abbreviations.

2. Abstract

  • Maximum 300 words, written in English.
  • The abstract should include the objectives, methods, main findings, and the significance of the research.
  • Use a structured format with six concise paragraphs for the following:
    • Background: Social and scientific relevance.
    • Aim: Overall purpose of the study.
    • Methods: Basic design and tools used.
    • Results: Primary outcomes.
    • Conclusion: Implications of the findings.
    • Contribution: Unique insights related to the journal’s scope.

3. Main Text

Follow the IMRAD format: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion.

  • Introduction:

    • Highlight the study's social value (importance and relevance).
    • Provide scientific justification (knowledge gap and originality).
    • Present the study’s conceptual framework (if applicable) and state the aim and objectives.
  • Methods:

    • Study design and setting.
    • Sampling strategies, population inclusion/exclusion criteria, and intervention (if any).
    • Data collection and analysis procedures, including ethical considerations.
  • Results:

    • Present findings supported by sufficient data.
    • Clearly answer the research question or hypothesis stated in the introduction.
  • Discussion:

    • Discuss the significance of key findings in relation to existing knowledge.
    • Highlight strengths, limitations, and implications for future research, policy, or practice.

4. Conclusion

Summarize how the findings address the study’s objectives, offering insights for future research or ongoing studies. Avoid repeating the results or abstract.

5. Acknowledgements

Recognize contributions not covered in authorship, including administrative or technical support.

6. References

  • Use the APA Style (6th Edition) for all citations.
  • References should consist of 80% journal articles or research outputs from the past five years.
  • Authors must use a reference management tool such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to avoid errors.

Figures, Tables, and Graphs

  • Adhere to the formatting guidelines outlined in the Manuscript Template.
  • Ensure tables, figures, and graphs are appropriately labelled and placed within the manuscript.

Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscripts must adhere to the Manuscript Template provided by the journal.
  • Use clear, consistent formatting throughout the document.
